Active family breaks to beat the Christmas bulge
There is still time to plan an active escape for the holidays - and walk off that Christmas turkey.
So, for those looking for an opportunity to get away from the loud presents you had hoped Santa had not brought the kids, the Isle of Wight has some festive active breaks in store.
Choosing to jump on the bike, the island is organising a family bike ride on roads, lanes and bridle paths that take riders through some of the most beautiful scenery of the Isle of Wight.
The ‘Mince Pie Bike Ride’ takes place 27 December and will start at Alverstone Village Hall and is free of charge. After the ride, families can enjoy Mulled wine and mince pies.
Two days later, on 29 December, Dinosaur Isle will be providing a guided fossil walk on Sandown seafront.
The gentle stroll along the beach at Yaverland gives families the chance to see what the winter storms have brought down from the cliffs.
