The recently launched NewcastleGateshead iPhone app includes all the information you need to make the most out of your mini-break, including guides to the local hotels, restaurants and bars, while you can also browse through upcoming festivals, shows and events.

The app allows visitors to visualise where they are in relation to top attractions, activities and popular eateries, along with the ability to plan a shortlist of all the things they want to do and see.

Current users have given this app top marks for its detail and pictures that accompany each listing, as well as the handy directions and mapping to show you how to get there.
