New Icelandic spa opens next month
Next month will see the opening of the Laugarvatn Fontana spa, which is set to offer the latest in cool Icelandic relaxation.
Opening 1 July the brand new spa sits on the steamy waters of Lake Laugarvatn, a lake which is brimming with beneficial geothermal energy.
With a series of interconnecting open-air baths, a steam room , and a sauna all heated geothermally, the traditional Icelandic remedies believed to come from the lake will available daily throughout the year from 11am to 9.30pm.
Travellers can unwind and relax in the warm waters and steam which is heated naturally to between 40°C - 50°C, there is even a warm sand beach for guests to enjoy.
The spa’s location is ideally placed along the famous Golden Circle route between the Thingvellir National Park and the dancing geyser fields making it the perfect stopover between the iconic sights.
Just one hour drive from Iceland’s capital of Reykjavik, spa-lovers can complete a weekend break with shopping, eating and Icelandic culture.
